Right now I'm working on the inks for my next book. The deadline is Jan, 1, 2014. That means I'm under no real deadline pressure at this moment. I hope that I get so much work done in the next couple of months that I will have no real deadline pressure for this book. The artwork looks pretty good. I can take my time on the drawings, and it shows.
I'm trying to apply the same mindset to my guitar playing and songwriting. Again, no real deadline pressure. I'm not taking lessons right now, so there's no real obligation to keep up with my playing or try to learn something new. I'm trying to get the point where I'm on guitar as much as I'm on the drawings.
I figured that it takes a special kind of ability to embark on a program of self-study for guitar and follow through with it. I mean, it's one thing to have the kind of opportunity all of this spare time affords me, but it's another thing to actually take advantage of that kind of opportunity.
