More skeptical inquiry

Okay, so that former cashier I go on and on about did not show up at the Hickoids on New Year's Eve.  Do I still think it's still about her?  Maybe.  If not, then the next couple of months or so should answer that question by the continued presence of her absence.  That's line of skeptical inquiry number one.  If she doesn't show up in a timely manner, then I'm just looking like as asshole, once again.  Not the first time, of course.

Suppose she does show, what then?  If she shows up in a timely manner, and if I can get contact information from her, and if we start hanging out, going out, talking, all of that, then it's  time for skeptical line of inquiry two.  Skeptical line of inquiry number two will NOT involve trying to find out whether or not she has it in for me on some really base, shitty level.  I don't think she would have some really dog-shit-revenge-agenda if she were to show up.  I think I took all motivation away from her to be that way towards me anymore.  So there's that.

What other agenda could she have that would somehow, someway, involve something other than getting to know me better in order to see if she likes me enough to want to see more of me? That's easy.  She could face pressure from herself or others, such as Schmaylor Schmift, to offer herself up to me for access to her because I'm such a good guy and all of that.  All the while she might not have any real interest in me, and she might not even really be available.  It's the-road-to-Hell-is-paved-with-good-intentions version of how things could go really shitty if I'm not careful.

If I'm around her for any appreciable length of time, I can most likely root out that one.  Needless to say, pursuing that line of skeptical inquiry can keep my expectations in check, for sure, which is a good thing.  I'll be so grateful that she's not actually locked and loaded for bear that I can just let her go with a wag of my finger and a "tut, tut, tut!"
